1º ESO. Sección bilingüe. Curso 2025-2026


 Welcome to your first year in our Moñino High School. 












We started our lesson singing a Welcome African song: Funga alafia

We learnt how to sing the names of the musical notes accompanied by "Do re mi" .

I hope we are having a very nice year. 

We started to write our first short composition to explain all we did, what we learnt in our lessons or what we enjoyed most. 

We learnt how to name notes and note values in English.

In order to review how to read  half notes ( blancas) ,quarter notes ( negras) and eighth notes ( corcheas) and rests in general, we watched these videos:

We learnt to sing "We will rock you" by Queen. Perhaps this song has the most rhythmic and known ostinato in the history of rock. 



We started to describe the character of songs and pieces of music we sang and listened to. 

We used our music books and a list of a lot of adjectives to do it.

We wrote an analysis about our favourite songs in order to learn a bit more about the structure of a pop song, how to describe the character of a piece of music, how to link a video on youtube in a document or how to look for information about a singer or a group. 

We studied TEMPO  writing a summary about our music book. 




We learnt to strum the ukelele with the basic chords.

SECOND TRIMESTER

We started studying what New Year´s Concert is with this link. 

We learnt to dance polka and waltz steps. 

We learnt to play Radetzky March with body percussion.

Do you know that two pieces composed by two female composers were played this year? Great. 

Sirenenzauber ( Canciones de sirenas) by Josephine Weinlich


Rainbow Waltz was composed by Florence Price, the first important Afroamerican female composer. 

During this year, Yannit Nezet Seguin conducted the orchestra. 

We played Ode to joy, by Beethoven in order to celebrate Peace Day at the end of January.

Inmediately after, we watched a video to know the families in the orchestra.
