Music in the Middle Ages

We started to work about the music during The Middle Ages writing the Saint Johannes hymn in the ancient musical notation.

Carmina Burana
We worked about this work ( Medieval and Modern Carmina Burana)


Finally, we worked about "Cantigas de Santa María" doing different activities. 
Listen to this recording performed by 2º A. 

In 15th of February we went to "Mithos", a special concert performed by Abraham Cupeiro and OEX.

We studied one of the first female composer, Hildegard von Bingen



We finished the trimester speaking about the Medieval heritage over pop music and recording two tracks. 




Track one ( Ara, Ángela (OMD- Jean of Arc-), Esther, Carmen ( Corvus Corax)- David, Sofía and Ziqi (Fiesta pagana de Mago de Oz)Sara y Sofía ( Hevia), Rodrigo and Julio ( Enigma). 
Track two ( Amalia y Marcos- Enigma) Sofía and Celia ( "Tiene que llover a cántaros" by Pablo Guerrero) María José ( Halleluah by Leonard Cohen) Pablo and Lino ( "Palabras para Julia" performed by Paco Ibáñez) and Julia Aitana and María ( Contamíname, by Pedro Guerra). 

In class we played "Perfect" and "I´m Yours" ( because Love is one of the main themes from troubadours. 
We also played Another brick in the wall as a protest song.
An finally, we played Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen and watched this interesting video. 

In order to work about International Woman´s day, we were dancing a known choreo and we learnt a new song: What happens when a woman takes power? 

Inmediately after, we studied Renaissance period :

and we prepared a trip to Burgos to know Monasterio de Silos, Atapuerca and Burgos cathedral. 
We enjoyed the trip very much.
